Good choice for short stay in Michigan City.
Liked the smallness and cozy aspect of the facility. Friendly and helpful desk and reception staff. They were proactive in calling me when we inadvertently left a folio of papers in the luggage cart after checking out. Also was very happy to have the pool and hot tub available, as well as the small fitness room. Location good from the highway, but a little hard to find the hotel from the main road due to its location on a parallel side road.
Bottom of pool looked somewhat dirty. Handle to door of pool area broken, so door was propped open. Room had large old furniture (dresser, side table) with drawers that was not particularly useful when one has a couple of large suitcases for a short stay. Didn't stay for the breakfast as we needed something more substantial to eat.

Overall pretty good place. Staff was very friendly.
Room was clean. Beds comfortable. Had a pool and hot tub.
Hot tub was barely warm. Pool area was not very clean.

Rude desk clerk and not worth $200/night
Very clean location inside and out for most part. Quiet location. It stops there.
Someone's trash left in shower area. Condescending elderly female desk clerk (dresses like Frank Sinatra) talks to everyone like they're 10 years old. Apparently you're only allowed 15 mins in the hottub because "other guests may be uncomfortable using the hottub when someone else is in it". My wife and I are healthcare professionals in our late 50s and were politely told we were hogging the hottub when someone else (not a soul in sight) could be using it. That has NEVER happened to us in all our travels. We WILL NOT return to this property for ANY reason. Another couple we were with feel exactly the same way. We come to Michigan City at least twice a year. The Hampton Inn will get our business from now on.
