Fine and clean, but it's...
We were eloping, and on a budget, but thought we were upgrading a little by getting this room over others on the same street that were cheaper. It wasn't that the place was bad-- it definitely wasn't--but I also don't think it was any better than places we saw for cheaper.
Pros: very clean, modern look, furniture appeared new-ish, fireplace in our room, dorm-size fridge and microwave in room for food, free and easy parking,,shower was always hot enough, the bathroom has an overhead heater so not cold when you get out of shower, easy to use digital thermostat.
Cons:
-the lighting! Omg, there wasn't a single light in the room that didn't give off a horrible light. Mostly the really cold very bright bluish ones (the ones right over the bed were on a summer at least, but the color of that light feels like a hospital), and one that was a very yellowish, but very bright and not dimmable. Lighting made the room anything but cozy or romantic.
-the view: we were in the back building on the left, with covered parking right in front of our door. The windows on the other side of our room (none on that side) looked out on another garage abt 10 feet away and there was a walkway between them 6 inches from our window, and a room in the next building looked right into our room. No one actually walked on the walkway to our knowledge while we were there, but it made us feel like we had to have the curtains closed all the time for any little bit of privacy, or so people didn't scope out our stuff, but I've already talked about the lighting, so it felt like a catch-22.
- bed was on the soft side, with 2 dips in the mattress that kinda forced us into those spots. It wasn't terrible the first night-- have had MUCH worse in hotels--but by the 3rd night both of us were feeling it in our backs
-no drawers to unpack clothes in. There is a closet, but no drawers, so for a longer stay, you're forced to have your suitcases out on the floor.
-breakfast was horrible. I saw all the other reviews of it and thought everyone just had higher expectations than I do. Wrong. It's literally coffee and a packaged bearclaw and an apple.
-hotel closes at 10pm. We got hung up in traffic on our drive and almost didn't make it in time-- arrived at 9:45. They do say they can leave a key in a box somewhere for you, but they made it sound like that was a last resort and something they wouldn't be happy about.
