Surprisingly good stay!
1) Affordable price and good value for money! Facing the necessity to spend a weekend in Madrid, I was horrified by extremely high hotel prices. This Ibis hotel, situated in a quiet and modest area of Getafe (part of autonomous community of Madrid), turned out to be the only decent affordable choice (approx. 68€ a night).
2) Location. Yes, strangely enough! For those who use public transport like me, the absence of a metro station nearby is no problem, because there are two RENFE (suburban train) stations at walking distance from the hotel, Getafe Centro (15 min on foot) and Las Margaritas (20 min). It's as comfortable, cheap, and swift as metro. From Getafe Centro, line C-4, there are only 4 stops to Atocha train station in the centre of Madrid.
3) Personnel. Incredibly polite, and I would really advise the hotel management to give them some award as they deserve it. My deepest thanks to the young lady at the reception desk who was there during my stay. During check-in, she took notice of my request for a quiet room, made at Booking, and fulfilled it!! This is amazing for a big chain hotel where such requests tend to be completely ignored. Later, she kindly helped me with minor issues (like, provided a glass of hot water, as a kettle is traditionally absent from hotel rooms in Spain! :)). Passing by the reception desk, I often witnessed new guests arrive, and always she served them most quickly and efficiently. The girl at the bar was also very nice!
4) The room. That super receptionist gave me a quiet room, as it was at the end of a corridor, and I could sleep really well due to the absence of noise from the neighbours. Everything corresponds to the pictures, quite a standard Ibis room, impersonal decor, nice bed, good hot shower. Very clean. I am very content.
